Lately, God has really been challenging me regarding faith and He has used two scriptures in conjunction to do so.
The first is Hebrews 11:6 "...without faith it is impossible to please God". That is simple enough, but then God used this second verse to really kick my flesh in the groin.
James 2:17 "...faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."
So why did this ravage my soul in such a way? Well, this is what I heard the Lord say to me:
There are many ways we can step out in faith. It can be in a job situation, in relationships, in your family, in your finances and especially in your personal walk with God. I heard a great statement from a preacher this morning. He said just as a farmer can't expect a harvest when he hasn't planted any seed, you can't expect anything from God when you haven't sown anything. And we need to step out in faith for God to come through for us. When I am weak, His strength can work through me.
So, just as I have had to examine my own life, ask yourself the same question...
When was the last time you stepped out in faith?

This hit me so hard and has been rolling around in my gut for the last few weeks. The Holy Spirit is our friend and comforter, but also our helper. He doesn't want us to get complacent. He doesn't want us to get lazy. He wants us to grow in our relationship with Him. But He requires some action on our part.

:) Love it Malachi, its so amazing to me how so many of us have this same conviction rolling around in us. I realized too this week faith doesn't just take trust, it takes action. So, its time for there to be some action & moving in my life! Its going to be a great, exciting ride! I can't wait!
