Christian circles have exploded with talk about the recent news that Michael Guglielmucci, the writer of Healer, lied about his fight with cancer. From Twitter, to blogs, emotions and opinions are high from both ends of the spectrum. I confess I was shocked when I read this news. It has spread very quickly since the story was released today by Australian newspapers. Even Hillsong, who featured this song on their most recent album, has removed the "Healer" story from their website.

I must agree with Los, when I say that despite the shortcomings of a messenger, God can still anoint a song and we shouldn't condemn Michael because he made a mistake. We have all made similar mistakes. Some more public, some hidden. Some on a larger scale, some minute. God is a God of second chances.

Right now I think the best thing we can do is to pray for Michael, his family, his church and for the church worldwide. There will be a lot of people who will be hurt and offended at Michael and at God. I think this gives another opportunity for God to really heal the hearts of people.

And as for Michael, hopefully God can now really be his healer.

Sing-a-Long

I'm listening to Phil Wickham's new album and I have to say, it's absolutely phenomenal. Thirty seconds into the first song I was absolutely awestruck, thinking "wow, this is amazing". I was seriously worshipping, almost in tears, in my cube. Why is it so amazing? Well, there are a few reasons. First of all, it's FREE! Second, Phil is a great writer and vocalist. Third, he is anointed. Fourth, it's live and you can really hear the passion in the crowd.

One thing that stuck out while listening: There are a couple people in the crowd who are singing some good harmonies. I really like it and I really hope it wasn't added in post-pro.

I have to point out something amusing too. You can hear the people in the crowd who are real Phil Wickham fans because they imitate his really quick vibrato. Now, in the past I have tried to imitate vocalists I like, but c'mon, the vibrato? Now, I am not trying to knock his vibrato, because it is unique and it's his own style. But it is funny when you can hear the audience imitating it too. Phil, if you ever read this, I am seriously not making fun of your vibrato... seriously. It's cool, lets do coffee, on me.

Two Names

This morning in the shower I was thinking about objects that have 2 names, depending on their location at any given time. Here is what I came up with:
Lava- Magma
Canker sore - Cold sore

Hm.. I thought I had more. But I guess that's it.

Anyone else have others?
